Tunnilla kävimme läpi miten kumarretaan (uskokaa tai älkää, on vaikeaa tehdä "täydellinen" kumarrus) kumarrus-kulmia, kuinka lähestyä, puhutella ja ohjata asiakasta. Olemus on hyvin tärkeätä Japanissa ja ensimmäinen kohtaaminen on se kriittinen kohta meille. Katsekontakti täytyy olla ensitapaamisessa! Myös hymyileminen. Voi apua kun suupielet on ihan väsähtäneet... Asiakkaan tapaamisessa meidän pitää pitää huolta ettemme lähesty asiakkaan henkilökohtaista tilaa liian nopeasti. Yksi askel kerrallaan tervehdyksen ja ohjauksen jälkeen.
Teimme pareittain roolileikkejä, toinen on hoitaja ja toinen asiakas. Opettajamme (Ei Takara koulusta, mutta tekee yhteistyötä heidän kanssa) videoi kaikki nämä pienet näytökset jonka jälkeen katsoimme ne läpi, hänen kertoen meille mitä pitäisi parantaa. Saimme myös monisteita joissa oli tärkeitä lauseita "teinei"-tyyliin. (Teinei = hyvin kohtelias tapa puhutella) Myönnetään, jotkut asiat näytöksissämme sanoin englanniksi koska en osannut edes sanoa niitä normaalilla tyylillä japaniksi...
Viikonloppuna/viikonlopun jälkeen koitan perehtyä kanjeihin että voisin edes vähän lukea papereita ilman että pitää nykiä Momoe-sanin hihasta koko ajan kysellen "What is that? What does it say? How do you read that?".
Tämän jälkeen meillä oli vielä manikyyri-tunti. Se oli tämän luokan kolmas kerta kun he tekivät sitä. Sain olla ensimmäinen asiakas kolmen ryhmässä jolloin näin heidän tavan tehdä käsihieronnan. Opin uusia hieronta-liikkeitä!

Today I had a very hard but interesting class. "Manners and etiquette". We don't have anything like that in Finland...
In the class we went through how to bow (Believe me or not, it's hard to do a "perfect" bow), bow-angles, how to approach, how to talk and how to instruct our client. Appearance is very important in Japan and the first meeting is a critical point for us. There must be eye-contact in our first meeting! Also smiling. Oh man my mouth's corners are so tired... Meeting the client we must keep in mind not to approach our client's personal space too fast. One step at a time after greeting and instructions.
We also did pair works, one was aesthete and the other one was client. Our teacher (Not from Takara, but does co-operate with them) recorded all of our mini acts and then we went through all of them while she gave us tips how to improve ourselves. We also got papers which had important sentences in "teinei"-style. (Teinei = Very polite way of speaking) I admit, some of the lines in our acts I did say in English as I didn't even know how to say them in normal way in Japanese...
On the weekend/after weekend I need to familiarize myself with kanji's so that I could read the papers a bit by myself without having to tug on Momoe-san's sleeve and ask "What is that? What does it say? How do you read that?"
After this we had manicure-class. This was my classmates's 3rd time of doing it. I got to be the first client in a 3-man group at which time I got to see how they do their hand-massage. I learned new massage moves!
Psst... I ate some corn-potato thing... and it tasted good!!
