Vaahtokarkkityttö Japanissa: Suunnistus / Orientation

Heräsin tänään jo klo 7 ja alotin aamurutiinit.

Olen suurimman osan päivästä viettänyt Harajukussa metsästämässä 100yen kauppaa. Miksi käydä Euron kaupassa kun voi mennä 0,75sentin kauppaan!!

Lähdin talolta klo 9:35 ja suuntasin kohti Kichijojin juna-asemaa. Halusin kokeilla miten se reitti sujui koska huomenna menen sitä kauttaa koululleni. Siinä samalla hankin itselleni Suica-matkakortin. Eipähän mene aikaa lippuautomaatilla enään.

Kichijoji juna-asemalta otin JR Sobu Linen (keltainen viiva) ja hyppäsin pois Yoyogin kohdalla. Siitä taas lähdin matkaamaan toisella junalla Harajukun juna-asemalle. Saapuessani sinne lähdin tutuin askelin kävelemään Meiji Jingulle, isolle vanhalle temppelille. Ostin sieltä pari amulettia, osoitin kunnioitusta jumalille ja pyysin heitä suojelemaan perhettäni rukous-laatassani. Näin myös hääpareja kimonoissaan temppelillä joista napsin pari kuvaa.

Temppeliltä lähdettyäni menin kiertelemään ja käväisin tutuissa kaupoissa joissa olen ennenkin käynyt. Kaupoissa huomaa todella hyvin Suomen ja Japanin kulttuurien eron. Paljon kumartelua ja yleisesti kaupan sisälle tervetuloa toivotusta; "Irashaimase~!". Jo se että hetken saat suoran katsekontaktin myyjään, saat heidät kumartelemaan. Kello oli noin klo 3 kun löysin Daison (100yen kauppa) josta ostin jokapäiväisiä tuotteita joita tarvitsin talolla. Jokainen tuote siis oli 100 jeniä + vero, ellei muuten mainittu. Lähdin kaupasta ison täysinäisen kassin kanssa joka maksoi kokonaisuudessa 18 euroa.

Käväisin "kotona" viemässä kassini huoneeseeni ja lähdin sitten taas matkaan. Tällä kertaa olin menossa Shibuyaan tapaamaan Vaasasta saapunutta lehtoria. Tapasimme hänen hotellillaan ja pian sinne saapui myös kaksi muuta suomalaista opiskelijaa. Menimme pienehköön ravintolaan syömään jossa juttelimme aikamme. Puhuimme positiivisista ja negatiivisista asioista joita olemme huomanneet täällä ollessamme. Pojat puhuivat esimerkiksi siitä kuinka japanilaisille ei voi sanoa suoraan "Ei" eikä toisin päin ja myös siitä kuinka he eivät kerro tunteitaan suoraan, joka vaikeuttaa heidän ymmärtämistään.

Syötyämme kävelimme lähemmäksi lehtorin hotellia jossa sitten erkanimme eri suuntiin. Saavuin noin klo 22:45 talolle ja väsymys iski ja kovaa. Joten menempä tästä nukkumaan. Huomenna on minun ensimmäinen päivä koululla!!

I woke up today at 7 am and started my morning routine.

I've spent most of the day in Harajuku hunting down a 100yen shop. Why go to a Euro shop, when you can go to a 0,75 cent shop?!

I left the house at 9:35 am and headed towards Kichijoji station. I wanted to try how that route works because tomorrow I'll be using it to go to the college. While I was there I got myself a Suica-card. Won't be taking my time at the ticket-machine anymore.

From Kichijoji station I took JR Sobu Line (yellow line) and hopped off at Yoyogi station. From there I traveled with another train to Harajuku station. When I arrived there I walked to familiar steps to the Meiji Jingu, an old big shrine. I bought some amulets, showed my respects to the deities and asked them to protect my family on the prayer-tile. I also saw some wedding couples at the shrine dressed up in their kimonos and I snapped few pictures.

When I left the temple I went for a stroll and visited some familiar shops where I have been before. In stores you can really notice the difference of Finland's and Japan's culture. Lot's of bowing and the usual welcoming greetings "Irashaimase~!". Just getting an eye contact with the staff, they start bowing. At 3 pm I found Daiso (100yen shop) where I bought daily necessities which I needed at the house. Every product was 100 Yen + tax, unless mentioned otherwise. I left the store with a fully filled shopping bag that was only 18 euros.

I stopped by at "my house" leaving my bags there and I then left again. This time I was heading to Shibuya to meet a lecturer from Vaasa. We met at her hotel and soon two other Finnish students appeared there. We went to a small restaurant where we talked for quite a while. We were discussing about the positive and negative things we have noticed while we have been here. The boys were talking about how you can't say "No", nor the other way and how they don't tell you their feelings straight which makes it harder for them to understand.

After we ate we walked closer to the lecturer's hotel and then we went on our own ways. I arrived to the house at 10:45 pm and tiredness has hit me hard. So I think I'll go to bed. Tomorrow I'm going to the college for the first time!
